Tsuyazaki Elementary School

We got the chance to visit every level of school.  This is the elementary school.  In the morning, kids arrive and play outside until school starts.  They were very surprised to see us waiting to greet them.

The teachers greeted us before school.  They have one big workroom.  Each teacher and the principal and vice principal each have their own desk in this room.
Each child has a shoe locker and umbrella spot by the doors.
Math class.  Students study mostly the same things that you do: math, reading, science, writing, they also study Japanese and English as a foreign language.

This is a cool building, great rooms, space, the museum, plus it has solar panels.  This is where kids can monitor how much electricity the panels are generating.
What a great science lab!  I wish we had this kind of space and equipment!

Kids can ride unicycles at recess.
All students and guests take off their shoes to keep the school clean.  We changed into slippers.
The kids all have the same backpack, just 2 color choices.  The rooms are very orderly and more sparse than ours.
Fun art.  They read some of the same books we do, just in Japanese.
Music Education is important in Japan.  They have individual (3 octave) pianos to practice on in school.

The have pianicas to take home and practice with.  You blow and play at the same time.  It is very lightweight.  It would be fun if we could find these here for our school!
A school and a museum!
Arrival at school.
